2 Chronicles 32

Hezekiah fights a battle and wins because God delivers him.  He then gets sick and is dying.  Isaiah comes and lets him know that he will die.  At this point Hezekiah pleads with God to spare his life.  So, Isaiah (now outside) turns around, comes back to Hezekiah and tells him God has deided to let you live 15 more years.

Shortly thereafter the king of Babylon, hearing of Hezekiah’s recovery, sends some folks to go visit Hezekiah.  Hezekiah welcomes them in and shows them everything in his kingdom.  Isaiah gets word, comes over and tells him that because of this, after he dies, everything in the kingdom will go to Babylon.  So the question I asked is “why?”.

I believe that there could be a number of reasons.  It could be that because Hezekiah was foolish enought to show the ambassadors from Babyon everything that they decided they would come and take it all.  I mean, where is the wisdom in showing all of your weapons and all of your money?  But, I think the downfall was from not giving God the glory for the miraculous recovery and for the stuff.

Papa wants to bless His children, but He also expects us to give Him credit and not take that for ourselves.
